e-Surveiller Monitors can receive updates from the Station
directly or from an alternative location.
The alternative location is useful if the Monitor is unable
to connect to the Station. You might want to update
your remote Monitors to connect to a new static
IP address, if you change your ISP, for instance.
The alternative configuration update location can be set to
be a file on the Internet or a file on the monitored
computer or on the local area network.
The Monitor polls this location regularly to check for updates.
You can then place the configuration file, after
updating a Monitor, at this location.
You can specify an alternative configuration update location:
a When generating a Monitor on the Other Options page

b When generating a custom Monitor on the Build
Location & Update Settings page

c When updating a Monitor on the Config Update Location tab.

If you specify a Local/Network
File location:
1
Enter
the full local or network pathname and file. (e.g.
c:\configs\monitor1.cfg or \\server\updates\monitor1.cfg)
in the Address
field.
2
If
the file is a network file, make sure the folder
portion of the address is accessible to the monitored
computer. You
may do this by sharing the folder.
For example, if the address is \\server\updates\monitor1.cfg,
then make sure the \\server\updates folder is
shared.
NOTICE:
When updating a Monitor using this method, place the configuration file
at the address. (e.g. rename the configuration
file to monitor1.cfg and copy it into c:\configs
or into the \\server\updates folder)
NOTE:
The Configuration file doesn’t need to end in .cfg; in fact it doesn’t
need to have an extension.
If you specify an Internet
Location:
1
Enter
the full URL with a filename e.g. ftp://ftp.myhost.com/updates/monitor1.cfg
or http://www.mywebsite.com/mysection/monitor1.cfg
in the Address field.
2
If
the address is an FTP address, enter the login
user name and password for the FTP site in the
User name
and Password fields.
NOTICE:
When updating a Monitor using this method, place the configuration file
at the address. (e.g. rename the configuration
file to monitor1.cfg and upload it into ftp://ftp.myhost.com/updates
FTP folder or http://www.mywebsite.com/mysection
web folder)
NOTE:
When updating a Monitor, e-Surveiller may automatically upload the configuration
to the specified FTP address.
NOTE:
The Configuration file doesn’t need to end in .cfg; in fact it doesn’t
need to have an extension.
